The information which follows summarizes the pubs I've visited (so far!) in Malta, and my impressions.  Where I feel that the COMMENTS column is insufficient for the purpose I've linked to another page.  (Street names are shown in Maltese here because signs in the St Paul's Bay area are not translated into English.)

One problem in Maltese pubs is that of the toilets; many have only one; in some the toilet door opens directly into the drinking area.  No doubt the Franco-German Empire will do something about that one day!

Available booze: Maltese ales (Hop Leaf, Blue Label) and lager (Ċisk); generally these are priced at around €1·80 for a "pint" (half a litre); if the price is higher than €2, I designate the pub as expensive.  Some pubs, especially those which prefer to cater to Maltese customers, carry only small bottles and charge €1·40 or more each for them; be sure you know what you're buying!

European lagers abound, and are usually priced at €1·20 for a "pint"; €1·30 is reasonable, higher than that is expensive; Jester's Bar in Buġibba, near the San Pawl Hotel, charges €1·70; truly, they jest!  But even that's cheaper than the eurolager in the Two Cherries, corner of Triq Andrew Cunningham and Triq Carmelo de Lucca in Qawra, where it costs €1·80!

The highest price I've been asked for since arriving in Malta was at Tabaco City on 20Jun2011; (see below).

In October 2009 I saw a sign outside the Bayside restaurant on the promenade which proclaimed that a "pint" of Skol, available anywhere else for €1·20, had been "slashed" from €2·60 to €1·75 (see below); I don't doubt that many tourists have been caught out by this greedy ploy.

I don't drink wine or spirits (except for the occasional dark rum), so cannot comment in depth; there are brands of whisky, vodka and rum, bottled in Malta, which are seemingly cheap at €2 for a double; I tried the Schooner Rum once - and only once!
